Baojun RS-5 had become a conversation, because of its name similar to European luxury cars, Audi. The Chinese factory SUV will be released at the 2019 Shanghai Auto Show, April 25 next week.
Reportedly, Baojun RS-5 is the next generation of Baojun 530 aka Wuling Almaz. The All-New RS-5 concept model was also exhibited at the Shanghai International Fashion Center.
If it's true the RS-5 is Almaz's successor, it looks like the SUV will be richer in technology. Considering, Wuling Almaz himself has qualified features, although not as sophisticated as his twin in India, MG Hector.
Launching Carscoops, the compact SUV has a look that is not much different from Almaz, because it uses the same design language. It's just that, the RS-5 is emblazoned with the new Baojun logo in the shape of a diamond.
RS-5 has the most spacious cabin in its class. Of course the interior uses high quality materials, although no interior images have been released.
Just like 530, this SUV is also internet based, advanced electronic architecture. The technology consists of a Banma intelligent connectivity system, which can interact with voice, remote control using smartphones, over-the-air software updates, online payments, and shopping features.
Baojun RS-5 is also equipped with semi-autonomous level 2 technology and 14 driver-assist features, including advanced cruise control.
Regarding the power, the Baojun RS-5 relies on a 1.5L turbocharger gasoline engine combined with the all-new CVT transmission. The engine produces 149 hp of power.
In his hometown, China, the successor to Wuling Almaz will be sold starting at RMB 96,800 or Rp. 203.7 million to RMB 132,800 or Rp. 279.1 million (Exchange rate of RMB 1 = Rp. 2,098).
